One of the things that I love about being a Canberra Family photographer is meeting a family that greets you with a huge smile and a lot of warmth.
One of the last families that I photographed before the new Covid-19 restrictions were introduced in Canberra (face marks became compulsory) was the Graham family. Together with Tim and Liz, there was Jed, Ellie, Rueben, Amaya, Josh and Toby.
The family session was to celebrate the arrival of Toby (one of the cutest little guys you could lay your eyes on) and the latest addition to the growing family. I knew this was going to be a fun shoot with so many energetic and lively children to photograph. We met at the Oak Cork Plantation at the Arboretum, which is one of my favourite locations for family photography sessions. There were plenty of trees to climb and open space for the kids to run around.
We started at the pile of rocks before the plantation to take some individual portraits and a couple of family portraits of the growing family. There was also an opportunity to grab some shots of the older kids while they were climbing some trees.
With the older kids, we breezed through the first lot of family photos without any bribes or begging. Thanks to the rocks and the trees added enough interest, that the chocolate was not needed.
When we got to the pond, it was another great for some shots of the kids together. Thankfully, there was a large log where we could artistically place the kids.
None of the older kids were shy of the camera. Each of them was so photogenic and loved posing for me. When I brought out the lights it added a sense of mystery as we went deeper into the plantation as it got later in the afternoon.
Everyone got an opportunity to snuggle up with Toby during the photo session especially as he was the newest member of the Graham clan.
I could not resist getting the parents together with Toby. He got a chance to snuggle up tight with Dad and Mum on a cool Canberra winter’s day.
